It's taken me a while to get it to this point, but this one is getting close to being finished.
I have work in the current show, Memeography Iconography in the 21st Century, at Zygote Press. The show was curated by Bellamy Prince and Jennifer Finkel. If you have a chance please stop by. The opening reception will be on June 19th from 6-8pm.
I'm really excited to announce that I will be going back to Ireland to do an artist residency next March. I will be at the Burren College of Art for three weeks next year! This will be my first time to the Burren and the West Coast of Ireland. I think that this will be an exciting opportunity, and am really looking forward to spending some time making new work there.
I'm excited to let you all know that my work is being featured on the Gallery project site 365 Artists 365 Days today. Please take a look at this really interesting project by the Frank Juarez and Greymatter Galleries.
Should be ready for some test prints next week
This is my Duffy's Cut Placemat. During the summer of 1832 57 Irish laborers were hired, by Philip Duffy, to lay mile 59 of the Philadelphia and Columbia Railroad. All 57 men suddenly died from, what was reported at the time to be, cholera. Most of them were buried and forgotten in a mass grave along the tracks they laid. In 2009, a team unearthed the remains and discovered that several of the men were probably killed by blunt force trauma to the head. They also discovered that a few of the men had suffered bullet wounds to the head. It is now believed that they were the victims of the prejudice that many Americans held towards Irish immigrants at the time, and were murdered by locals out of fear of the spread of disease.
Border for next Placemat.
New Texas placemat taking shape. The explosion that rocked this school is the reason that natural gas is scented today.
Here's the newest placemat in progress, please take a look. Let me know what you think. Also, I am still looking for restaurants, bars, and diners to distribute them. If you or someone you know is interested please contact me. Thanks!
So, I am in the process of doing test prints of the second placemat and wanted to show you the results. Also, I wanted to let everyone know that ABC Tavern at Uptown in Cleveland will be using the first placemat starting next week. Stop by and check it out before they're gone!
